Activation process won't complete

Did anyone else have this happen to them?

My phone won't stop trying to activate (circled checkmark in upper left-hand corner of notification bar will not go away). I got this phone on last Friday, April 11th. By all intents and purposes it is activated because over the weekend the circled checkmark disappeared. Then on Monday I restarted my phone and it automatically went right back into trying to activate. It will not connect to the network at all. I pulled the battery and left it out of the phone for a few minutes, put it back in and restarted the phone a second time, still wouldn't activate.

Keep in mind the phone works beautifully and it?s hella fast, an impressive upgrade from my old as heck S2. This not activating thing is more of a nuisance at this point.

I did a Factory Reset on in Tuesday night thinking that might solve the problem, NOPE!!!

I then decided to take my phone to a Sprint Repair center last night. I found out that this activation issue is not repairable and that my phone has to be swapped out for a new one. I have to bring it back to the same Best Buy I bought the phone at and they'll replace it for me. What a pain in the ****. Here's hoping that once I get the replacement phone that I don't encounter any further problems.

I just unboxed my S5 and it will not activate even the first time. It is Verizon, not Sprint, but likely a similar issue. My problem is there's nothing I can do about it. The key issue is likely a connectivity one. I'm in a somewhat remote area / dead zone, though Verizon has pretty much blanketed the area. I hope Sprint / Best Buy / Samsung was able to solve your problem.

I had to take it back to the same Best Buy I bought it at and they swapped it out for a new one. I have had no problems at all with the new one. Knock on wood.

You know what's funny??? You are the first person I've seen that has had this problem since me on this forum. I searched and searched for a thread for a problem like this one and found nothing, hence the reason for the post. I guess I ended with a lemon with the first one.

Good luck. Please let me know what happens.

I am on Verizon.

When I am at home, no phone activation can be accomplished.
I must drive about 15 miles to a major population center and find a 'real sure nuff' Verizon tower.

Or, you can call support and have their engineering people do all of the configuration with you manually over the landline (or different cellphone). They will have you go thru the menus and tell them the exact MEID, and lots of other info.

Once that is done, you will be told to select certain options and to make certain manual entries.

Takes at least an hour, last time it took 2.5 hours to get it done for me.

but hey, I didn't have to get up and drive somewhere and then sit in a hot car waiting for the phone update.

It happened to me - I followed the instructions that came with the S5 (although I very rarely read instructions :D) but it would time out and never activated. I went onto My Verizon account page and made the swap there. In a matter of about a minute, I was cooking with Crisco.

This is happening to me right now and it's driving me crazy!! I am about to say buh-bye to androids altogether. My question is, can I turn my S3 back on so that it will work until I can get to the Verizon store? Or will it mess anything up?

IBCOP, I'm not understanding quite what you mean when you said that you went into your Verizon account and "made the swap" there? Can you please explain? I'm having the same problem of not being able to complete the initial activation. Thanks!
