I remember when touch screens were brought out as a great revolutionary aspect and it was but after some time the prospect changed and it came down to a has-been tech and normative. If you are talking about drivers and stuff for each units the production company usually gives that. So dont consider research to similar research seen in movies.

It's just an outdated, overhyped and over-overpriced phone, with modest hardware and aged software, in an ugly aluminum body that bends and has no physical strength.
You can find much better phones for 1/3 of iCrap's price.
Apple remains faithful to its slogan: "Yesterday's technology at tomorrow's prices".
Steve Jobs would have said to customers with bended iCraps: "Don't sit so much, stand up when you have an iphone".

And how much did you think it cost them to build the iOS and promote the phone. That is in the cost as well. Everyone puts the total cost of development in the phone. Building the software and hardware.
