Police: ‘Teen Mom 2’ star Jenelle Evans 'fabricated' dog killing story for 'publicity'

Authorities say ousted "Teen Mom 2" star Jenelle Evans fabricated the story about her husband, David Eason, shooting and killing their French bulldog.

Why? "For the publicity."

Evans initially told investigators that Eason shot her beloved dog, Nugget, in the woods on April 29 after the canine allegedly attacked their 2-year-old daughter, Ensley.

However, the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office released a statement to USA TODAY Thursday saying that "the evidence collected indicates that the allegations of animal cruelty were fabricated."

"Investigators processed the residence and the property, locating no blood evidence or any other physical evidence to validate that an animal had been fatally injured on the property," the statement read.

Upon further questioning, Evans admitted that she filed the animal cruelty report "for the publicity and because she did not know where her dog was," the statement added.

Nugget's current whereabouts were not mentioned in the report.

Evans took to Twitter to defend herself, writing, "police are crooked AF." In response to a fan asking whether the news was true, she added: "Definitely NOT. My story will be published soon."

Jenelle Evans attends New York Fashion Week on February 7, 2019 in New York City.

Although authorities closed the case and will not press any charges, Evans didn't get off scot-free.

The reality star was booted from MTV's "Teen Mom 2" less than a week after she went public with the animal cruelty incident, leaving Evans a "little bit shocked" and "upset."

"We have stopped filming with Jenelle Eason as of April 6, 2019, and have no plans to cover her story in the upcoming season," MTV said in a statement to USA TODAY in May.

In May, child protective services removed Evans' children from her care over the incident. She has 9-year-old son Jace Evans with ex Andrew Lewis, 5-year-old son Kaiser Griffith with ex-fiancé Nathan Griffith and 2-year-old daughter Ensley with Eason.

A judge reinstated her custody more than a month later in July, leading Evans to tweet, "I GOT ALL MY KIDS BACK," "Crying in tears of joy" and "My lawyer is a beast."

"I am ecstatic to regain custody of my kids," she told Us on July 3. “Throughout this long process and final decision, I am excited to be moving forward and continuing to show America I’m a good parent."

USA TODAY reached out to Evans' rep for comment.
