Memphis Depay became Barcelona’s fourth signing of the summer on Saturday, but president Joan Laporta says more players will arrive.

Barca’s financial problems have been well-documented, but Laporta told La Vanguardia the club is hoping to add more players to the squad.

“There will be three or four more signings, we are creating a very competitive team. We’re already seeing it with the arrivals of Garcia, Aguero, Emerson and as well as other players who are ready.”

Laporta went on to confirm recent reports that Gerard Pique will restructure his contract to help the club out financially and said the club is “very happy and grateful” to the center-back.

The 58-year-old also admitted that the situation at the club was worse than he expected when he took office for a second time earlier this year after replacing Josep Maria Bartomeu.

The topic of Lionel Messi’s future was also broached once again. Laporta said there is “no stress” about the captain’s continuity at the Camp Nou.

He also added, “What we want is for him to sign, hopefully for two years, that we win the Champions League next year and everything that lies ahead.”
