Trust Me season 2: Will Jodie Whittaker return for a second series? Writer drops HUGE hint

Trust Me set for thrilling final instalment

The actress, who stars as nurse Cath Hardacre posing as an A&E doctor, will make her debut as the first female Doctor Who later this year, but writer Dan Sefton seems certain she will reprise her role.

“There is an ending, hopefully a satisfying ending, but one that does possibly leave things open,” he told press including Express.co.uk.

“I think it’s very important with these stories that people commit to them.”

Dan went on to tease details of the final instalment, commenting: “I think if you cheat the ending, it is a betrayal of the audience…if you watch all of the episodes, you will get an ending.”

Trust Me: Will Jodie Whittaker return for a second season?

Meanwhile, producer Emily Feller added: “There is definitely mileage for it to go to a second series.

“I think what we want to do is go on this massive journey with her and not to spill series one but it’s a completed story. You don’t feel cheated but equally we want it to continue.”

The fourth and final episode of the current run of Trust Me will see a familiar face from Cath’s past arrive in Edinburgh, which causes trouble between her and beau Dr. Andy Brenner (Emun Elliott).

Trust Me: Will Cath's fake identity as Ally Sutton finally be exposed?

Cath will also find herself in hot water at work as she struggles to choose between staying loyal to her colleague and friend Brigitte Rayne (Sharon Small) or her moral conscience, when they are investigated over the death of a patient.

Can she continue to keep her true identity a secret or will she finally be exposed?

Trust Me concludes tonight on One at 9pm.
