Pinball Arcade loses rights to Bally and Williams tables

Digital pinball simulation Pinball Arcade is losing access to a major license that will have a profound impact on the game. Developer FarSight Studios said that WMS Industries, which holds the rights to Bally and Williams pinball trademarks, will not renew FarSight’s license and that dozens of tables for Pinball Arcade will no longer be available for sale as of June 30.

Pinball Arcade will lose access to some of the most popular pinball tables of all time in June, including The Addams Family, Bride of Pinbot, Medieval Madness, Twilight Zone, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Theatre of Magic, Tales of the Arabian Nights and Red & Ted’s Road Show.

FarSight Studios announced the news on Facebook, saying that existing customers won’t lose access to the Bally and Williams tables:

Our longstanding licenses for the Williams and Bally pinball trademarks will finally come to an end on June 30th, 2018. Therefore, after this date tables from these manufacturers will no longer be offered for sale within the Pinball Arcade. However, customers who purchased any of these tables prior to the deadline will continue to own them and have access to them within the Pinball Arcade, and we will continue to support them as we do the other tables in our collection. This change will affect all of our devices and platforms.

So if you’ve ever been interested in owning these great tables, please purchase them now, before they disappear!

FarSight will continue to release new tables for the Pinball Arcade. We are excited to announce that Season 8 will launch later this summer and will feature all of the recent Stern tables in Stern Pinball Arcade along with several new tables.

On Facebook, FarSight said that the company that controls the intellectual property for those table “chose not to renew our agreement.” FarSight also said it can’t offer a discount on the tables it’s losing access to per its agreement with WMS.

Pinball Arcade launched in 2012 on a variety of platforms, ranging from mobile devices to consoles.
