Malcolm to me: I shouldn't say that in front of you because you'll put it on your website and everyone will see it!

The Latest Daily Site Updates

Please note: I have been diagnosed with severe incurable health problems, so if someday the site stops getting updated that is why. Thanks for all your kind wishes, but there is no getting better from this.

9/25/09

Malcolm returns to Entourage this Sunday night after 3 years. He has a couple episodes this year, possibly to return next season.

9/19/09
Updated the Clockwork Filming Locations page with a new article saying the town has become like in the film - the fraud capitol of the UK or worse!
9/17/09
The ACO Plays keep rolling out, this one is in Fort Myers, FL.
9/16/09
Started a page for A Clockwork Orange The Drink - legal drinking age only!
9/10/09
Last year Malcolm became part of his first large trading cad set Donruss Americana II, well this year he's back in the new third series in a massive way. I started a layout for the page and  posted a rare scan in Donruss Americana 2009.
9/5/09
Added the rest of my summary to the Halloween II page.
9/4/09
I took the plunge and watched Halloween II and added the first half of my summary.
9/1/09
Updated the Halloween II with a scan of Malcolm his wife and new baby at the premiere and Halloween II news about the poor opening gross and the possibility Malcolm might be in the 3D sequel.
8/25/09
Updated the Halloween II page with the full cast and 2 news stories - one about the premiere and Malcolm's son plus another exclusive about Rob appearing on Headbanger's Ball about the film.
8/22/09
With all that's going on I didn't get to welcome Malcolm and Kelly's third son: Seamus Hudson McDowell. When he is 1, Malcolm with be in his fifth decade of acting!
I recently read something incredibly cool I'm told is true - turning down pretentious, meaningless awards. Malcolm McDowell in 1995 turned down a knighthood and had previously declined appointment as CBE (As a Commander) in 1984).

8/21/09

It's not playing around here, but if someone could tape it for me that would be great: Starz Inside: Villainz (9 pm on Starz 8/25/09): This special investigates the psychology behind classic villains and the often startlingly simple way in which they grind on the audience's nerves while playing on their fears. Among those interviewed are Malcolm McDowell.
8/14/09
Added the first picture of Malcolm from Suck and they tried to pull a fast one on us to get a "young Malcolm" in the film, but they can't fool me and I don't know how they'll get away with it now they are caught.
8/7/09
For the first time in 3 months I was able to transfer all my files and frontpage to my laptop, so it'll be much easier to update more often if need be. I recently saw the strangest thing. America's Got Talent is like the most popular show playing right now and is the most milk toast reality competition, nothing controversial about it or anything. So imagine my complete surprise when I'm watching the third episode of auditions and they are using the main Caligula theme for the next batch of bad auditions. If they only knew, or someone was playing a huge joke on them.
7/29/09
I love to hear that there are still new versions of the play being made. More Crinoline Productions will present the theological drama "A Clockwork Orange" at the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center in September. Tickets can be purchased starting Aug. 10 at sbdac. A fundraiser for the show will be held the night of July 18 at the Bar Association Lounge at 1609 Hendry Street in downtown Fort Myers. The play by Anthony Burgess, published in 1987 and based on his novel of the same name, will run Sept. 9-26. The production integrates aggressive sound and visuals. The score, composed by Mr. Burgess, incorporates Beethoven's seventh and ninth symphonies. The show includes several violent scenes both onstage and projected on the walls. For tickets or more information, Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center | PO Box 1562, Fort Myers, FL 33902 / 239-337-1933

I'm always being asked about Malcolm's appearances. Well, he's making a huge one at this years Dragon*Con. He has recently been added to the lineup for Sept 4-7th. in Atlanta, GA. Fell free to send any pics from the show.
7/25/09
I was recently told from a very close source that Malcolm McDowell is filming The Book of Eli which would be one of the biggest budget pictures he would ever be associated with and has a small cast, so hopefully he'll have some decent screen time. It stars Denzel Washington and won't be out until 2010.
7/16/09
Exclusive - on 7/12/09 I had a friend model the most famous Clockwork Orange painting prop in Alex's by J.H. Lynch called "Tina" from 1961 because I've never seen anyone do anything like it before to make it 3D style. Tina comes to life.
To see the screen shot and prop close up

Huge news! Malcolm is returning to the stage for the first time in 15 years! Unfortunately for me it's 3000 miles away, but I actually did attend what would be the ''premiere'' of the play when I first met Malcolm in 1991. You can read about it here The Diaries of Kenneth Tynan
The new 2009-10 season of work by Center Theatre Group at its Kirk Douglas Theatre in Los Angeles will feature a world premiere by Lisa Kron, Malcolm McDowell as drama critic Kenneth Tynan and a new play by In the Continuum writer Danai Gurira. Tynan is billed as "the wickedly candid play" about the influential drama critic Kenneth Tynan, to be played by acclaimed actor Malcolm McDowell. It will makes its U.S. debut May 6-June 6, 2010. Tynan is based on the book "The Diaries of Kenneth Tynan" edited by John Lahr, and adapted for the stage by Richard Nelson with Colin Chambers. Nelson will direct. I'm starting a page here.

I didn't even get to announce last week the site celebrates another year anniversary making it 12 years! Thanks to all who keep submitting. I read the strangest MM appearance in the history of the site and I hope someone goes to film it.

He takes a licking, but keeps on ticking - Malcolm that is. Happy 66th birthday to the old timer! In honor of this I'm finishing My Summary of Britannia Hospital.
6/11/09
I felt the need to update for the first time since I gotten sick because I've felt better. It could be something false, but who knows? People ask me what I'm doing and what's the future of the site. The site will keep going as long as it has a home on the web. Much of it is housed on geocities and there is talk of geocities being shutdown and if it is that bad because much of the site is on geocities and if it does go away that would be a bring problems I'm not ready to deal with and am open to ideas.
As for my health I had 2 spinal surgeries to deal with the deal with same problem. The first time there was a cancerous tumor growing inside my spine and 98% was removed and the rest was radiated. I was sick, but that seemed to get better, never would it be 100%, but it was to be livable. Then 11 months later there seemed to be a return to the similar area, but it felt different this time and I thought it was much smoother. I had the surgery, things were looking great in many ways and frustrating in others.
Then 2 months later I was told that it was back with a vengeance and that was it, no fixing it. I would be bedbound, not even a wheelchair because the location could be worse. I do still collect and work on the site behind the scenes only because I didn't accept the diagnosis 100% because I would be a fool do to do, but on the other hand I would be a fool to ignore this if it is a last chance. I have been painting and working on a 'life story with cancer' that has taken the forefront, but I still want to post Malcolm stuff from time to time as it's so important tome and why I made it this far.
For 20 years I've wanted to rewatch Britannia Hospital as I knew I just didn't get it. I asked Malcolm himself about it and after going through too many hospital experiences myself I knew I was ready to rewatch it for essentially the first time and finally finish out the Mick Travis Trilogy on the site. So here is part 1 of My Summary of the film.

Today marks the 10th anniversary of a day no one wants to celebrate, the passing of The Great Man - Stanley Kubrick. If it wasn't for the failure to make Napoleon which forced him to turn to something else that could be done quick and cheap, that turned out to be ACO, I wouldn't be here right now. I remember logging onto Yahoo 10 years ago and seeing the headline that he was gone and I was in shock. Then I heard Steven Spielberg found out the same way and I thought that was somehow cool. In his honor I updated the ACO Behind the Scenes page with 4 new scans:
Kubrick close up on set - unknown scene.

Kubrick lining up the shot of the prisoners in the courtyard with Malcolm in heavy jacket behind him.

Malcolm and Kubrick laughing at the Cat Lady's house near the phallus.

There is a book that came out recently called Conversations with Anthony Burgess (Literary Conversations Series) by Earl G. Ingersoll and Mary C. Ingersoll. It features 12 interviews and covers ACO.
Also an ACO connection from the recent Oscar darling. During one of Danny Boyles many forays to Bolton, he was fired up by Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange. He was indelibly affected by its "violence and sex and style".
3/1/09
Some interesting soundtrack news. There is a new Time After Time CD. The "true" score arrives via a Silver Age Classics release from Film Score Monthly Records, a CD that makes a revelation that the original Cross release was actually a re-recording, something common for many soundtracks until relatively recently. It's new presentation is a marked improvement in every respect, offering the complete, original Burbank sessions (as opposed to the re-do's more-than respectable performance in London), exceptional liner notes by Jeff Bond and Frank K. DeWald, as well as writer-director Nicholas Meyers' reminiscences of working with Rozsa.
2/28/09
Malcolm wins another award. He was chosen as King Vidor recipient for 2009 San Luis International Film Festival. This spring, the San Luis Obispo International Film Festival will honor of one of cinema's most sinister villains. Golden Globe nominee Malcolm McDowell will receive the festivals King Vidor Career Achievement Award, which honors excellence in filmmaking, executive director Wendy Eidson announced today. Festival organizers plan to honor McDowell, best known for his role in A Clockwork Orange, on March 6, the opening night of the San Luis Obispo film festival. The San Luis Obispo International Film Festival runs March 6 through 15. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 546-3456 (546-FILM) or visit www.slofilmfest.org
2/27/09
The news we were all dreading has arrived from Rob Zombie about Halloween 2, "Rumors have it that Malcolm will not be returning as Dr. Loomis. Well, as usual the rumors are wrong. Malcolm McDowell will be back and ready to deal with big Mike."
2/26/09
"I was a consultant for the paramedic scenes, but they didn't listen to anything I told them," Alan Williams from Cut Off.
2/25/09
Odd quote. "It's very worrying not to have seen A Clockwork Orange when like Nicolas Sarkozy one has been in charge of the interior ministry and handled violence," mocked Delano's cultural attache, Christophe Girard. 1/20/09
2/24/09
The love of language. Burgess, who invented his own language in Clockwork Orange, was a real linguist himself; the relish, the celebration of language. Why say something in the dull way when you can say it like this?" Kevin Kline 1/09
2/23/09
Director Jeff Lipsky lists ACO & OLM! among his 20 favorite films.
2/22/09
