Vanessa Kirby is the actress who will be portraying the role of Sue Storm in the upcoming reboot of the movie Fantastic Four. Sharing the screen alongside Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Kirby would be perfect for the character.
Jack Kirby was the co-creator of the Fantastic Four team in the Marvel Comics and some people cannot help but wonder: Are they related? Sharing the same last name, it would be poetic for Vanessa Kirby to portray the iconic role created by Jack Kirby.
Are Vanessa And Jack Kirby Related?
Well, the short answer is… no. Vanessa Kirby and Jack Kirby are not related, at least biologically. Jack Kirby was one of the primary artists who worked alongside Stan Lee to create several iconic characters that we know and love today.
Jack Kirby is best known for creating the character of Captain America and he is also the co-creator of several characters such as Ant-Man, the Avengers, the Black Panther, the Fantastic Four, the Hulk, Iron Man, the Silver Surfer, Thor, and the X-Men alongside several others. Although the artist died in 1994, his legacy continues with the representation of his beloved characters much like Stan Lee.
On the other hand, Vanessa Kirby is best known for her work in the 2019 spin-off Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. The actress was also the lead alongside Joaquin Phoenix in Ridley Scott’s 2023 film Napoleon. The actress has several projects under her name such as Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One and Pieces of a Woman. Therefore, her casting as Sue Storm in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie makes sense and has the world excited for her. But all in all, Vanessa and Jack Kirby are not biologically related (although it would’ve been quite poetic).
Vanessa Kirby Responds To Rumors About Her Dating Tom Cruise
With James Gunn allegedly benefitting from the casting of Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, there are a lot of rumors surrounding the actress. In an interview with Marie Claire UK, the actress revealed that her kissing Tom Cruise was just for the film and not a real act of love.
“Even though the [film] crew were there, it was all [in the tabloids] like, ‘The next wife falls at his feet,’. The most disconcerting thing was the people I didn’t think would believe it, did, and they were texting my boyfriend, asking, ‘Are you OK?'”
She further continued,
“There’s literally zero truth in it. I’ve been in a relationship for two years! The rumors came out after I’d met Tom, once, in a room full of people. We hadn’t started filming, and all of a sudden, we’re getting married! It’s so bizarre. My boyfriend found it hilarious.”
With Matt Shakman as the director of the film, Fantastic Four, starring Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, the movie is set for a release date of 2 May 2025 in theaters across the U.S.
