Director Biography – Lauren Harris (DEFINING DODO)

Lauren Harris, a Philadelphia Native, graduated with honors from the University of Southern California with a double major in Dramatic Arts (emphasis on Acting) and Spanish (fluent). She has studied at the Berridge Conservatory in Normandy, France, The Pig Iron Theatre Company in Philadelphia, PA, and the British American Dramatic Academy in London, England.

Lauren has starred in numerous plays in the LA area, and recently in Murder Loves Company Ep. 4 on Investigation Discovery Network. Lauren also wrote, produced, and co-starred in a feminist web-series titled It’s A Girl Thing, that was highly regarded in over 14 international film festivals. Most recently, she made her directing debut with Defining Dodo, a short film meant to shine a light on Latinx/LGTBQ issues.

Director Statement

Defining Dodo explores the constant identity crisis some members of the LGBTQ community face to live up to the societal pressures and expectations of their communities. Through our film, I hope to start a conversation about mental health, gender identity, and increase representation of the Latinx community in film.
