No filter! Christie Brinkley, 69, lets her natural beauty shine in new selfie as she declares herself a 'Downtown Girl' in playful nod to ex Billy Joel's Uptown Girl hit

Christie Brinkley may have been the inspiration for ex-husband Billy Joel's hit song Uptown Girl, but 40 years later the longtime supermodel declared herself to be a Downtown Girl.

On Wednesday the legendary covergirl, 69, took a cruise around the old World Trade Center site in New York City that's now home to One World Trade Center (formerly Freedom Tower).

To mark the occasion, she snapped a couple photos of the building, which is the tallest in the U.S., along with a third of herself sitting in the backseat of a car.

'Downtown Girl,' she called herself in the caption, at least on this day.

Fans of Billy Joel will remember, Brinkley starred in the music video for Uptown Girl, which helped propel the tune to peak at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 for five consecutive weeks between November and December 1983.

In the close-up photo, Brinkley can be seen staring directly into the camera dressed in an aqua-blue jacket.

She also has her blonde tresses styled long, straight, and flowing down over her chest and well past her shoulders with bangs and a part in the middle.

She refused to put a filter on the image, instead letting her natural beauty shine.

Brinkley, 69, also posted a photo of the One WTC building from inside her vehicle, highlighting the moving clouds, that had an artistic flare to it.

She would share a second photo of the main building of the rebuilt World Trade Center complex situated in Lower Manhattan that was designed by David Childs of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill.

According to an interview with Howard Stern, Joel had originally titled his song 'Uptown Girls', and that it was conceived on an occasion when he was surrounded by Brinkley, Whitney Houston, and his then girlfriend Elle Macpherson.

While the song was initially written about his relationship with supermodel Macpherson, it ended up also becoming a story about his soon-to-be wife, Brinkley.

The lyrics of the tune, off his ninth studio album An Innocent Man (1983), describe a working class downtown man attempting to woo a wealthy uptown girl.

As for the video, it depicts Joel and his backup singers working as auto mechanics. Brinkley arrives in a chauffeured Rolls-Royce as Joel and the mechanics dance with her.

The music video has a storybook ending, showing Joel ride off with Brinkley on a motorcycle.

In his real life, Joel would tie-the-knot with Brinkley in March 1985, about a year-and-a-half after the release of Uptown Girl, less than two years after meeting on the Island of St. Barts in the Carribbean.

They would welcome their daughter Alexa nine months after their nuptials, but ultimately they got divorced in 1994.
