Denise Richards’ reality show is called “It’s Complicated,” but her life seems less complex now that she’s reached an understanding with ex-husband Charlie Sheen after a messy divorce.

Season two of the show airs Sundays at 10:30 p.m. EDT on E!

The 38-year-old actress talks about her show, Twitter and what she would do if she weren’t in show biz.

AP: Tell us about season two of “It’s Complicated.”

Richards: I really wanted everything to be very authentic so we shot from December until May. You really see me balance my career with being a mom.

AP: Cameras followed you that whole time?

Richards: People think cameras follow you 24/7. It’s really not like that. We have set hours, set days, just like any scripted show.

AP: Are your daughters (Sam, 5, and Lola, 4) featured?

Richards: My girls are in it but very little – less than they were the first season. Charlie (Sheen) was actually OK with them doing it so it’s good.

AP: Speaking of Charlie. How are things going with him?

Richards: Things with Charlie are definitely much better. We’re in a very good place.

AP: There was a funny episode the first season where you tried to cut back on swearing. How’s that working out?

Richards: Well, I never, ever swear around my kids. I’ve never even slipped, but I don’t know what it is about my girlfriends but when we get together we cuss a lot. Around my kids we don’t do it. I was always good about watching my mouth around my dad but then he moved in with me and you can only hide that for so long.

AP: We see your dad start to date again this season. Is that hard for you?

Richards: It is hard to see my dad get back out there but it’s harder for me to see him live the rest of his life with a broken heart. Whatever negative feelings I may have are not his problem, they’re my problem that I have to work out.

AP: If you weren’t acting what would you be doing?

Richards: I think I would be a lot of things: an interior designer (laughter), a makeup artist and a veterinarian (laughter.) All three of them!

AP: You use Twitter. Why?

Richards: Things have changed so much in our business. When I started, it was better to be a little mysterious and I think the fans want to feel connected and feel like you’re relatable. I want to do things where people can see who I really am.

AP: Do you follow anyone on Twitter?

Richards: Lisa Rinna, Ryan Seacrest, Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore. And Oprah! I love Oprah. I wish she’d Twitter a little bit more. (Laughter.)
