The Amsterdam School movement is part of international Expressionist architecture. Its buildings are characterized by brick construction with complicated masonry with a rounded or organic appearance: decorative masonry, art glass, wrought ironwork, spires or "ladder" windows (with horizontal bars). read more

Social housing complex built in 1920 with asymmetrical windows, turrets and round corner balconies. The corner building looks like a steamship sailing through waves. Inside the building is a museum  about the art and architecture of the Amsterdam School offering a guided tour within and around the building.
